The Deal

Does this mean Trulia will all of a sudden vanish and be non-existent? No. The “stock-for-stock” deal means the Trulia stock was converted to Zillow stock and the brands will keep their identities.

Instead of wasting time and resources competing against each other, they will have a renewed focus on winning new consumers over and will save $100 Million in the process (layoffs and money saved from competing against each other).

Expectations for the future

Expectations are that The Zillow Group (Zillow, Trulia, StreetEasy and HotPads) will learn to sell more efficiently and generate more leads and enhance their products to appeal to the agents and brokers.

With their new dashboard platform where agents can manage their listings on their website, it allows for agents to have direct control of how they will look on the website.

This move increases the listing feeds through Zillow. Trulia claims 125 syndication agreements with the MLS.

The move ultimately empowers the Zillow Group to have greater access to the real estate market data, broader distribution, enhanced value and corporate costs savings.
